Type colors

Type colors are a library of named section types — each with a color — that you use to label the sections of a song on the Song Map lane. The library starts with Intro, Verse, Chorus, Bridge, Drop, Breakdown and Outro, and you can rename, recolor or delete any of them and add as many of your own as you like (Pre-drop, Build, and so on). The library is stored on this computer and is shared by every song and every show. Section types belong to the song's structure, not to cues: a cue does not have a type.

Managing the type library

Open the SONG MAP tab in the right-hand panel. It is hidden by default: turn it on from the View menu in the title bar, under Panels. There is no Song Map section in Settings.

To add a type: type a name in the New section type… field and click Add. The new type appears in your library immediately, in a neutral grey-violet, and is available for all songs; click its color swatch to pick a color.

To recolor a type: click the color swatch next to its name. The sections of that type update to the new color, except any section you gave a color of its own.

To delete a type: click the delete button next to it and confirm. Sections that used the deleted type stay on the lane but show the raw type name instead of a type until you reassign them.

Placing and changing sections

The Song Map lane is the strip under the waveform. It is always shown while a song is loaded, except in lyric timing mode.

• Add a section — click an empty spot on the lane. A small menu lists your types; click one to start a section there. You can also type a name in + new type… and press Enter to create a new type and use it at once.
• Change a section — click it. The same menu lets you pick a different type, set a color for just that section (the ↺ button returns it to the type's color), or choose Delete section.
• Move a section — drag its handle along the lane. It snaps to a nearby cue marker or section boundary, otherwise to the nearest frame.

A section lasts until the next section starts, or until the end of the song.

Types from another computer

When you open a project that uses section types you do not have, the SONG MAP tab shows Types from this show: This file uses section types you don't have. Add them to your library to keep them after editing. Click Add beside a type, or Add all N to my library to bring them all in with their colors. If you skip this, the sections still load and display correctly.
