Quick setup presets

Quick setup presets are one-click templates that populate a trigger's type, channel, and parameter fields with correct values for common target systems. Instead of looking up the MIDI spec for each piece of gear, select the preset for your device and fill in only the specific number (clip, scene, cue) that changes per trigger.

Accessing quick setup presets

When adding a new trigger or editing an existing one, click Quick Setup in the trigger editor to expand the preset menu. The menu lists presets grouped by target device. Selecting a preset immediately updates the type, channel, and default parameter values. You can then adjust the specific note, CC number, program number, or label before saving.

Available presets

The following presets are available out of the box:

  • Resolume clip (Note-on, Ch 1) β€” triggers a Resolume Arena clip. Note number maps to the column; velocity maps to the layer. Set the note and velocity to target the exact cell in the Resolume clip grid.
  • Lighting trigger (Note-on, Ch 1) β€” a generic Note-on for lighting desks that accept MIDI notes as cue-go commands. Adjust the channel and note to match your console's MIDI map.
  • Lighting scene (Program Change) β€” sends a Program Change to switch to a lighting scene or preset bank by number. Set the program number to the scene index your console uses.
  • Resolume effect (CC) β€” sends a Control Change message to adjust a Resolume effect parameter. Set the CC number to match the parameter ID shown in Resolume's MIDI learn panel.
  • Disguise trigger (Note-on, Ch 16) β€” triggers a disguise (d3) cue using the standard Note-on channel 16 mapping. Adjust the note number to target the specific cue.
  • DAW transport (CC 117) β€” sends CC 117 on channel 1, which many DAWs recognize as a transport command (play, stop, or record depending on the value). Check your DAW's MIDI assignment settings.
  • ETC Eos MSC GO β€” sends a MIDI Show Control GO SysEx to fire a cue on an ETC Eos (or Ion, Element, Nomad) lighting console. Set the trigger label to the cue number (e.g., 12 or 12.5).

What presets do not set

Presets fill in the trigger type, MIDI channel, and sensible default parameter values. They do not set the timecode position or the label β€” those are always specific to your show and must be entered manually. After applying a preset, review all fields before saving the trigger.

Quick setup presets are starting points, not locked configurations. After selecting one, every field remains editable. If your console uses a non-standard channel assignment or velocity range, adjust the values to match your setup before saving.
