Show Log
Show Log records a timestamped history of events during the show. It is a passive log β LTCast writes to it automatically without any operator action. Review it after the event to confirm everything went to plan, or use it during troubleshooting to identify when something went wrong.
Accessing the log
Open the SHOW tab in the right panel. If the tab is not visible, enable it in Settings β Workflow β Optional panels β Show "Show" tab. The log is always recording in the background when LTCast is running.
What gets logged
The following events are recorded with a timestamp:
- Playback start, stop, and pause β including which song was active
- Song changes β which song was loaded and when
- LTC signal events β signal acquired, signal lost, signal reacquired
- Trigger fires β which trigger fired and the timecode at which it fired
- Viewer connections and disconnections β when a viewer browser connects or disconnects from the mirror
Reading the log
Entries are sorted chronologically with the most recent event at the top. Each entry shows:
- Real-world clock time β the wall clock time when the event occurred, not SMPTE timecode
- Event type β a category label (PLAY, STOP, SONG, LTC, TRIGGER, VIEWER)
- Description β a brief human-readable description of what happened
Log lifetime
The log is cleared when a new show is opened or when LTCast restarts. It is not saved to disk automatically. If you need to keep a record, copy the log contents before closing the app or opening a new show.
After a show, scan the log for any unexpected STOP events or missed trigger fires before tearing down equipment. This is faster than relying on memory when crew ask "did that cue fire?"
