What crew members see

When a crew member opens the Viewer URL in a browser, they see the LTCast viewer β€” a real-time display that updates as the show plays. The viewer is read-only: crew members can see timecode and cue information but cannot control playback or change anything in LTCast.

Display elements

The viewer shows the following information, updating live:

  • Current timecode β€” a large SMPTE display in the center of the screen
  • Current song name β€” the name of the song currently loaded or playing
  • Playback state β€” a badge showing PLAYING or STOPPED
  • Remaining time β€” time left in the current song
  • Progress bar β€” a visual indicator of position within the current song
  • Upcoming cues β€” the next few cues from the cue list, with standby timers counting down

Role filtering for upcoming cues

Crew members can filter the upcoming cues list to show only cues relevant to their department by adding a ?role= parameter to the URL. For example, a lighting operator would open http://192.168.1.5:7777?role=lighting to see only lighting cues. The role name must match the department name as configured in LTCast.

Stage reporting

Each viewer has three status buttons: OK, WARN, and ERROR. Crew members tap their current status to report it to the operator. They can also type a short message alongside the status. These reports appear in the operator's Stage Monitor.

Connection loss indicator

If the network connection between the viewer and LTCast is interrupted, the viewer displays a DR (disaster recovery) indicator and freezes on the last received timecode frame. The display does not continue counting on its own. The viewer reconnects automatically when the network is restored.

Compatibility

The viewer works on any modern browser: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge on phones, tablets, and laptops. No app installation, login, or plugin is required. The viewer page is optimized for portrait orientation on phones.
