LTC WAV Export

LTC WAV Export generates a standalone audio file containing an LTC signal. Use it to burn timecode onto tape, populate a DAW timeline with an LTC reference track, or create a playback file for a device that does not connect directly to LTCast.

Accessing LTC WAV Export

Choose File β†’ Export LTC WAV, or click Export LTC WAV in the Tools tab.

Export parameters

Configure the following options before exporting:

  • Start Timecode β€” the SMPTE address at which the generated LTC begins. A common choice is 00:59:58:00 for a 2-second pre-roll before 01:00:00:00.
  • Duration β€” how many seconds of LTC to generate. Set this to the full length of the show segment plus any desired post-roll.
  • Frame Rate β€” 24, 25, 29.97 DF, or 30 fps. Must match the frame rate of your show.
  • Sample Rate β€” 44100 or 48000 Hz. Match the sample rate of the target system (DAW project, tape machine, or playback device).
  • Amplitude β€” the peak level of the LTC signal in dBFS. -3 to 0 dBFS is typical; consult your console documentation if it specifies an input level for LTC.

Exporting

Click Export. LTCast generates the WAV file offline (no audio plays during generation). When complete, a save dialog appears. Choose a save location and file name.

Output format

The exported file is a stereo WAV with LTC on one channel and silence on the other. This allows a DAW to route the LTC channel to a timecode output while leaving the silence channel available for music or other content if needed.

LTC WAV Export generates the signal mathematically β€” it does not record from an audio output. Generation is fast regardless of duration.
