Setlist variants

Setlist variants let you maintain multiple independent versions of a setlist within a single project file. Each variant has its own song order and songs. Switching between them is instant, without opening a different project.

When to use variants

  • Main show vs. B-show β€” keep a shortened set for unexpected schedule changes ready to go without building a separate project
  • Rehearsal vs. final β€” track changes between a dress rehearsal setlist and the approved final order without duplicating the project
  • Multi-act shows β€” one variant per act, all within the same project file
  • Alternate intros β€” test different song orderings before committing

Managing variant tabs

The variant tabs appear at the top of the Setlist panel. The default variant is named Main.

  • Switch β€” click a tab to switch to that variant
  • Add β€” click the + button in the variant tab bar to create a new empty variant
  • Rename β€” double-click a tab name to rename it
  • Duplicate β€” right-click a tab and choose Duplicate to copy all songs and settings to a new variant
  • Delete β€” right-click a tab and choose Delete; at least one variant must always remain in the project

Switching during playback

Switching variants does not stop playback. The song currently playing continues until it ends or you manually stop it. Once the active song finishes, subsequent loads (from auto-advance, after-finish destinations, or manual commands) draw from the newly selected variant.

Switch to your B-show variant in advance during a natural break. The transition is seamless β€” no interruption to the running timecode.

Variant independence

Each variant is completely independent. Adding, removing, or reordering songs in one variant has no effect on other variants. Per-song settings (trim, fade, downbeat) are stored per song per variant β€” duplicating a variant copies those settings to the duplicate.

Project file

All variants are stored in the same .ltcast project file. You do not need to manage multiple files to maintain multiple setlists for the same show.
