Linked songs
When the same song appears in several setlist variants — the matinee, the evening show, the festival cut — you want to program its cues once. Linked copies share their cues: edit a cue in one list and every linked copy changes with it.
How songs get linked
These all create linked copies:
Ctrl+CthenCtrl+V- Right-click → Copy to list ▸
- Dropping a song on another list's tab (without Shift)
- Right-click a tab → Duplicate — every song in the new list is linked to the original
For a copy that should go its own way from the start, use Ctrl+Shift+V or Paste as independent copy.
Seeing the link
A linked song shows a link badge with a number beside its duration — 🔗 3 means the song appears in three places. Hover over it to see which lists.
What's shared and what isn't
| Shared by every linked copy | Set separately in each list |
|---|---|
| Cues and markers, regions, song map, lyrics, video alignment, MIDI/OSC triggers, song offset, absolute start TC, gain trim, downbeat and time signature, name and audio file | Skip, after-finish destination, song transition (seamless / gap), pre-roll, fade in / fade out |
So the matinee can stop after a song while the evening show runs straight on — and both still fire the same cues.
Unlinking
Right-click a linked song → Unlink (make independent). It keeps everything it has; from then on its edits stay its own. When only one copy of a link is left, it stops being linked automatically.
Linking songs you already have
A project built before this feature — or one where you pasted independent copies — may have the same audio file in several lists with no link. Right-click any tab → Link same-file songs… finds them.
- Identical — the copies already match; they're ticked, ready to link
- Cues differ, pick one — the copies are not identical. Any difference in a shared item counts (cues, lyrics, name, offset, trim, downbeat…), not only cues. Each version is listed with where it lives and its cue count, lyric lines and offset. Nothing is ticked until you pick the version to keep
Click Link. Every copy takes the version you picked.
Ctrl+Z doesn't undo this step.Opening in an older LTCast
Every linked copy is saved with its full cues, so an older version of LTCast opens the project normally — it just treats the copies as separate songs. If a copy was edited there and the project comes back, LTCast compares the copies as it opens the file and splits them by content: the first group of identical copies (in list order) keeps the link, any other group of identical copies gets a link of its own, and a copy that is alone in its version becomes independent. Nothing is overwritten. If two copies have both changed, they end up independent of each other.
