Departments

Departments are routing tags that indicate which crew members or systems a cue is intended for β€” for example, Lighting, Audio, Video, or Pyro. A single cue can target multiple departments.

Managing the department list

Go to Settings β†’ Workflow β†’ Departments to manage your departments. From here you can:

  • Add a new department by typing a name and clicking Add.
  • Rename an existing department by clicking its name.
  • Recolor a department by clicking its color swatch.
  • Delete a department β€” this removes it from all cues that reference it.

The department list is shared across all songs in the project.

Keep department names short β€” they appear in the viewer and on stage displays where space is limited.

Assigning departments to a cue

Open the cue editor and click the Targets field. A dropdown shows the available departments. Click one or more to assign them. The cue marker on the waveform takes the department's color when a department is assigned.

Departments in the Viewer Mirror

Crew members opening the Viewer Mirror URL can filter to see only cues tagged for their department. A Lighting operator sees only Lighting cues; an Audio operator sees only Audio cues. This keeps the viewer uncluttered for each role.

Unregistered department tags

If a cue has a department tag that no longer exists in your department list β€” for example, after importing a show from another computer β€” that tag appears under "Unregistered" in Settings β†’ Workflow β†’ Departments. You can either register it as a real department or strip it from all cues that reference it.
