LTCast as Viewer

A second LTCast installation can act as a read-only viewer of a primary LTCast machine. The secondary machine's full UI becomes a passive display showing the primary's timecode, song, and show data β€” useful for remote operator positions without a long cable run.

Connecting as a viewer

On the secondary machine, go to Settings β†’ Network Viewer β†’ Connect (Viewer) tab. Toggle on Act as a read-only viewer of another LTCast. Fill in the connection fields:

  • Host β€” the IP address of the primary LTCast machine
  • Port β€” the mirror port on the primary (default 7777)
  • PIN β€” the 4-digit PIN if the primary has PIN authentication enabled; leave blank if no PIN is set

LTCast connects automatically after filling in the host and port. The status indicator shows Connecting, then Connected once the link is established.

Read-only mode behavior

Once connected, the secondary LTCast enters read-only mode:

  • The header shows a VIEWING Β· READ-ONLY badge
  • Local audio playback is suppressed β€” no music plays on the secondary machine
  • All protocol outputs (LTC, MTC, Art-Net, OSC) are suppressed on the secondary
  • The transport controls, setlist, and cue editor are disabled
  • The timecode display, song info, and cue list update in real time from the primary

Exiting viewer mode

Click EXIT in the header badge, or press Esc, to disconnect from the primary and return the secondary machine to normal operation. All local settings and the setlist are preserved β€” nothing on the secondary machine changes while in viewer mode.

Use cases

Common scenarios for LTCast-as-Viewer:

  • A monitor station at stage left or in a sound booth where the operator needs to see timecode but cannot run a cable from the main operator position
  • A backstage confidence monitor showing the current song and upcoming cues for performers
  • A second screen at front-of-house during multi-operator shows
